Work on the Relationship That's on Your Mind
The Forge app, now in development, gives you one small, specific step at a time to try with one person. They never need an account.
Agreeing With the Advice Isn't the Same as Using It on a Tuesday
You read the piece about apologizing, or listening, or making time, and you agreed with every word. Then it's 6:40 on a Tuesday, nobody has started dinner, and the conversation you meant to have moves to another night.
The app takes one idea at a time and turns it into a small thing to try with one person, in steps that fit around a real week. Use it for any of these, each in its own private space:
- Your partner
- Your son or daughter
- Your mom or dad
- Your brother or sister
- Your in-laws
Small Steps With One Person, on Your Schedule
How It Works
One Idea at a Time, Tried With the Actual Person
- Choose the person you want to work on things with
- A partner, a child, a sibling, a parent, or an in-law. Each one stays private and separate.
- Take the eight-question Health Check
- Eight questions you answer on your own, with a reminder to take it again every three weeks.
- Learn one idea
- One theme at a time, in the Learn tab.
- Try it with them in real life
- In the Do tab, try the step in your plan with the actual person, and log it when it happens. Skip anything that doesn't fit, with no reason needed.
- Look back on how it went
- Write a few lines in the Review tab, in your own private space.
Start With Trust, Including After Something Goes Wrong
The Forge app starts with the Trust Module. Each of its sections works toward one of these:
- Say what you mean, with care, so they're not left guessing
- Follow through often enough that they can count on what you say
- Own your part when something goes wrong, without a long explanation first
- Apologize in a way that puts something real behind the words
- Stay close without taking over their privacy or their choices
- Make it safe for them to tell you the truth
Does the other person have to sign up?
No. Everything happens in your own private space, and the other person never needs an account.
Is the Forge app therapy?
No. Forge offers practical relationship-building tools and is not a replacement for therapy, counseling, crisis support, or professional care.
What if a step doesn't fit our situation?
Mark it skipped, and you don't have to say why. When there's a substitute that fits, you'll be offered it instead.
Who can see what I write?
What you write is private to your account, and support staff can read it only if you give them time-limited permission. There's no advertising, and you can export your records or ask to delete an entry, a relationship, or your account.
When can I use it?
The Forge app is in development, and there's no date yet. Sign up below and we'll email you when it opens.
